EGM’s solution consists of inductively powered third generation line sensors, highly sophisticated Meta-Alert® analytics platform, and secure communications. The Meta-Sense™ sensors and the secure integrated Communications Gateway are the backbone of the solution.

The next generation of Transmission applications will demand much more accurate data. In addition, utilities are facing pressures like increased demand, growing renewable energy generation, frequent congestion, and increased scrutiny of planned and unplanned outages, stressing utility operations and significantly increasing their operational costs. Applications to solve these business problems will require more data, delivered and analyzed in near real-time, protected with industrial-strength encryption, and made available to existing utility SCADA, A/DMS, OMS, etc. systems. EGM is poised to be the unique provider in the industry that can deliver these types of application.

Applications like Ambient Adjusted Rating (AAR) for Transmission operations as currently required by FERC 881. Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) mandates are expected in the near future that will require that utilities monitor the ampacity of their transmission lines near real-time and days into the future to ensure that the grid does not exceed the rated ampacity of the conductors. Meta-Sense™ High Voltage

Monitor transmission lines up to 800kV. Sensors measure conductor temperature, and we can also bring in weather service data to get wind speed.

Communication Gateway

Communications Adapter Unit (CAU). This is the communications gateway, which gets its data from the sensors and backhauls it via cellular to the Meta-Alert® platform.
