Industry veteran brings more than 25 years of utility technology leadership experience as EGM expands its commercial strategy and market presence.
Electrical Grid Monitoring (EGM), a leader in predictive transmission and distribution grid intelligence solutions, today announced the appointment of Ed Solar as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). In this role, Solar will lead EGM’s go-to-market strategy, revenue growth, customer engagement, partner ecosystem development, and market expansion initiatives across North America and international markets.

The appointment reflects EGM’s continued investment in commercial growth and its commitment to helping utilities address some of the industry’s most pressing challenges, including reliability, resilience, grid modernization, and the increasing complexity of operating transmission and distribution networks.
As utilities face growing pressure from electrification, distributed energy resources, aging infrastructure, extreme weather events, and rising reliability expectations, EGM is expanding its leadership team to accelerate adoption of the company’s predictive monitoring and analytics platform. EGM’s solutions provide utilities with continuous visibility into grid conditions, helping operators identify developing issues earlier, improve operational awareness, and make more informed decisions across their networks.
Solar brings more than 25 years of experience serving electric, gas, and water utilities worldwide. Throughout his career, he has helped utilities deploy and operationalize technologies that improve reliability, enhance system performance, and support long-term grid modernization strategies. His expertise spans Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Outage and Network Management Systems, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), utility communications networks, Customer Information Systems (CIS), Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), and other critical utility technologies.
“I’m excited to join EGM at a pivotal moment for both the company and the utility industry,” said Solar. “Utilities are being asked to manage increasing grid complexity while maintaining reliability, improving resilience, and preparing for future growth. EGM’s approach to predictive transmission and distribution intelligence provides utilities with actionable insights that help them operate more efficiently and confidently. I look forward to working with our customers and partners as we continue to expand EGM’s impact across the industry.”
Solar has held senior leadership positions with leading utility technology organizations, where he built high-performing teams and helped drive growth across domestic and international markets. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy, a Master of Science degree from the University of South Florida, and is a proud U.S. Navy Veteran.
“Ed’s appointment represents an important step in EGM’s growth strategy,” said Dr. Alex Levran, Chief Executive Officer of EGM. “His deep understanding of utility operations, technology adoption, and customer engagement makes him uniquely qualified to help guide our next phase of expansion. As utilities increasingly seek predictive intelligence and greater operational visibility across their networks, Ed’s leadership will help ensure EGM continues to deliver meaningful value to our customers while expanding our presence in key markets.”
